Which REITs have performed above market returns? Compared to the index of your choice. E.g S&P500, DOW, and so forth. - Kenbeertt- 2019-04-27 10:36:41 PDT

Hi Kenbeertt, I was looking into RE & REIT ETFs this morning, and thought I would take a stab at answering your question. Some REIT and REal Estate ETFs that have performed better than DJIA, S&P500, and the NASDAQ during the last one year based on only share price are iShares Core U.S. REIT ETFNYSE Arca: #USRT, Nuveen Short-Term REIT ETFCboe Consolidated Listings: #NURE, Invesco S&P 500® Equal Weight Real Estate ETFNYSE Arca: #EWRE, Invesco Active U.S. Real Estate FundNYSE Arca: #PSR, and SPDR® Dow Jones Global Real Estate ETFNYSE Arca: #RWO. Some that have performed below DJIA, S&P500, and the NASDAQ during this last year are WisdomTree Global ex-US Real Estate FundNYSE Arca: #DRW, and SPDR® Dow Jones International Real Estate ETFNYSE Arca: #RWX. However some of these ETFs have been following the DJIA, S&P500, and the NASDAQ vary closely and if they overperformed or underperformed can change fairly quickly from one week to the other. Hope you find this useful. - Mrinvesta - 2019-08-10 11:34:28 PDT

Here is a great article and quote from Dr. Peter Linneman on Commercial Property Executive magazine's May 2019 issue, titled "In the Next Downturn, Public Markets Will Be CRE Investors’ Best Bet. In it, Dr. Linneman states "So we suggest that those hoping to prosper from deeply discounted pricing during the next down cycle should start educating themselves on REITs today so they are ready to jump in when the time is right." Being a passive trader focused on non-tech stocks, I look for dividends to complement my total returns. In years with high volatility, the dividend + stock price of REITs put a better return in my pockets. - Wallbird - 2019-05-23 11:33:57 PDT
