Mortgage Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) can invest in, acquire, originate and manage a diversified and hybrid portfolio of investments and loans such as 1) acquire and manage a diversified portfolio of residential mortgage assets, other real estate-related securities, and financial assets; 2) invest in agency mortgage-backed securities (agency MBS), non-agency mortgage investments, and other real estate-related assets; 3) invest in agency pass-through securities and collateralized mortgage obligations for which the principal and interest payments are guaranteed by a U.S. Government agency or a U.S. Government-sponsored entity; 4) invests in and finances residential (single-family and multifamily) and commercial assets; 5) invest primarily in mortgage-backed securities on a leveraged basis; 6) invest in commercial first mortgage loans, subordinate financings, commercial mortgage-backed securities and other commercial real estate-related debt investments; 7) underwrite and structure complex loans and financing transactions; 8) provide debt capital; 9)invests in fixed rate residential, adjustable rate, and hybrid adjustable rate residential mortgage-backed securities issued or guaranteed (or not guaranteed) by the United States Government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs), or guaranteed by the Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA); 9) originate senior loans; 10) investing in a leveraged portfolio of real estate adjustable-rate mortgage ("ARM") pass-through securities issued and guaranteed by government-sponsored enterprises, either Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or by an agency of the federal government, Ginnie Mae; 10) invests in mortgage assets on a leveraged basis and in Agency and non-Agency CMBS and RMB; 11) invest in customized financing solutions to privately held small and mid-sized companies; 12) provides fixed-rate and floating-rate commercial mortgages, mezzanine financing and preferred and direct equity.See Related Pages
