Retail Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) can focus on ownership, acquisition, development, leasing, redeveloping and management of retail properties. Retail REIT assets can include but are not limited to grocery-anchored shopping center, retail centers, bank buildings, lifestyle and neighborhood retail center, freestanding retail stores and outlets, grocery stores, outlet and power center, drug stores, convenience store and gasoline station properties, value-oriented shopping centers, malls and open-air center, restaurant and bar, regional mall, service and gas station, vehicle related retail properties, airport retail, community center, showroom, storefront, storefront retail and office, multi-use property with residential and storefront retail, super regional mall, theme and festival retail center, strip retail center and other retail. Some Retail REITs focus on properties in major metropolitan areas, high density urban markets, while others in suburban areas. Retail REITs can lease their retail assets to individual retailers, small and mid-size business to national recognized retail and consumer brands. Some REITs are focused in local markets, while others invest in properties across North America and globally.
